This will be the second season in which teams have only three preseason games — with the lone exception being those two teams that play in the Hall of Fame Game to kick off the year.
NFL viewers certainly won’t mind the shortened preseason. After all, that means one extra game in the regular season and one week closer to the start, which starts on Sept. 8 in a Thursday matchup between the Rams and Bills.
Here’s a look at the schedule for every week of the 2022 NFL preseason, including start times and TV channels for each game.
When does the 2022 NFL preseason start and end?
- Start date: Thursday, Aug. 4
- End date: Sunday, Aug. 28
The NFL will return to television screens on Aug. 4, when the Jaguars and Raiders face off in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. That game will be carried on NBC.
Jacksonville and Las Vegas will be the only teams with four preseason games on their schedule, while the rest of the league will have only three each.
The preseason will end on Aug. 28, per the NFL.
How to watch NFL preseason games on TV
Each week during the preseason, several games will be carried on national television, with NBC, ESPN, Fox, CBS, and Amazon Prime each carrying national broadcasts. Local networks like CBS and Fox will have the rest of the games.
